- Microchip Technology (MCHP) said Friday it will acquire edge AI processor company Hailo in a deal expected to close by the end of its September quarter.
- Financial terms were not disclosed. Microchip said the acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on its financial results and will expand its portfolio of edge AI and vision processing technologies for applications including robotics, industrial automation, and smart cameras.
- Separately, the company disclosed that COO Richard Simoncic will resign effective Aug. 17 to become CEO of privately held Menlo Microsystems.
- Shares of the chipmaker were down 1% in after-hours trading.
