Analysts are weighing in on Brown-Forman's (BF.A) (BF.B) rejection of a takeover by Sazerac.TD Cowen analyst Seamus Cassidy said given the board's swift rejection and the Brown family's public opposition to a takeover, the firm sees the probability of a materially higher bid from Sazerac as unlikely. Cassidy and his team think Sazerac's renewed offer may have been prompted by Brown-Forman's (BF.A) (BF.B) recent CEO succession news, although it is now clear the company is not for sale as family control firmly remains the key obstacle to any change-of-control transaction.Over the weekend, Louisville-based Brown-Forman (BF.A) (BF.B) Chairman Marshall Farrer issued a statement on the path ahead: "Brown-Forman’s board and leadership team are confident that the company will continue to deliver long-term growth and shareholder value," updated Farrer. "The company remains focused on executing its strategic plan, including expanding its geographic footprint, building brands that resonate with consumers, and enhancing operational efficiency, while continuing to explore additional opportunities to create sustained value for all shareholders," he added.For its part, Sazerac is privately held and family controlled, with ownership associated with the Goldring family. The spirits company has grown aggressively through acquisitions and holds a 500-brand portfolio that includes Buzz Balls, Buffalo Trace, Fireball, Southern Comfort, Svedka Vodka, and Corazon Tequila.Shares of Brown-Forman's (BF.A) (BF.B) rose 1.1% in premarket trading on Monday after adding 1.5% on Friday.
