Brookfield's (BN) asset management unit has raised ~$2B for a private equity fund focused on the Middle East, Bloomberg News reported, citing a statement that the media house saw.
Brookfield Asset Management (BAM) has committed $500M to the vehicle, while the remainder will be contributed by other strategic investors, including Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and other global and regional institutional partners, the report published on Monday noted.
BN shares were 1.39% higher at $42.25 during pre-market trading on Monday. BAM was +2.46% to $47.49.
The fund will reportedly seek buyout and growth opportunities in sectors including financials, consumer services, and technology.
The news reinforces investors' commitment towards the Middle East region despite the ongoing Iran war, Bloomberg noted.
