Carpenter Technology (CRS) said Monday that President and CEO Brian Malloy died suddenly and unexpectedly on July 24.
Carpenter (CRS) said it appointed Executive Chairman Tony Thene to become the new CEO, effective immediately, after previously holding the position from July 2015 through June 2026, when he handed the reins to Malloy; Thene will also continue as Chairman.
Malloy joined Carpenter (CRS) in August 2015, coming from Ametek, where he was Senior VP and Chief Strategy Officer in the Global Precision Tubes business; he became President and COO of Carpenter in October 2025 after holding several leadership roles with the company.
Thene joined Carpenter (CRS) in 2013 from Alcoa, where he was CFO of the Engineered Products and Solutions Business Group.
