  • 《Spider-Man: Brand New Day》等后续大片竞争可能分流排片,且70mm IMAX场馆数量有限,限制单片继续超预期的斜率。

Shares of IMAX (IMAX) rose about 2.2% in premarket trading on Monday after another strong weekend for Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” boosted investor optimism around the entertainment company.
The film generated an estimated $87 million in North American ticket sales during its second weekend, declining just 30% from its opening frame, according to box office estimates. Its worldwide gross reached about $639.6 million, including $286.4 million domestically and $353.3 million internationally. The film continued to drive strong demand for IMAX (IMAX) screenings, generating $48 million in global IMAX (IMAX) ticket sales during its second weekend, which was reported as the biggest sophomore weekend ever for an IMAX (IMAX) release.
IMAX (IMAX) screens accounted for a significant share of the film’s performance, contributing 27.7% of its domestic gross despite representing 443 theatres. The continued demand for premium-format screenings, including sold-out IMAX 70mm engagements, has strengthened expectations that “The Odyssey” could provide a meaningful boost to IMAX’s revenue and future filmmaker partnerships.
The stock move follows IMAX’s recent quarterly results, where the company highlighted the film’s record-breaking opening performance and said its success could have broader benefits for the IMAX platform.
