HDFC Bank fined three of its senior employees, including Managing Director and CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan, after an internal review of an unusual deposit deal with a state-run firm found no malfeasance, the company said Monday.
The review of HDFC's Special Disciplinary Committee of Independent Directors concluded that the conduct involved constituted business overreach rather than malfeasance or improper motive.
The three senior officials were issued warning letters and ordered to pay a monetary penalty of 100,000 Indian rupees ($1,042) each, the company said in an exchange filing. Other employees involved also received warning letters, it said.
HDFC Bank stock closed down 0.4% in trading in Bombay trading. The stock (HDB) fell 0.3% in morning trading in the U.S.
