Leidos (LDOS) said it successfully demonstrated a tactical cyber detection capability during the U.S. military's Valiant Shield 2026 exercise, showing how military operators can identify potential cyber threats to connected mission systems in real time.
The demonstration took place during the multinational field training exercise, which was held in Guam from June 22 through July 2. According to the company, its Cyber and Electromagnetic Activities Resiliency System, or CRS, detected simulated cyber intrusions and identified unusual activity across tactical platforms and networks, providing operators with early warning of potential cyber threats before they could affect military operations.
Valiant Shield is a recurring U.S. military exercise in the Indo-Pacific that brings together U.S. and allied forces across air, land, sea, space and cyber domains to test joint operations under complex conditions.
Leidos said CRS is intended for military environments where conventional cybersecurity tools may have limited visibility into connected mission systems. The company said the software monitors mission equipment, sensors and networks for signs of unusual cyber activity, allowing operators to identify potential threats without disrupting operations.
As military platforms become increasingly connected, the company said the system is designed to provide commanders with greater awareness of cyber risks affecting operational technology rather than traditional information technology networks.
"Cyber resilience is now essential to military readiness," Jason O'Connor, president of Leidos Intelligence, said in the company announcement. "Commanders need to know when cyber activity could put the mission at risk. Valiant Shield gave us the opportunity to show that CRS can provide that awareness in realistic field conditions and help warfighters stay focused on the mission."
Leidos (LDOS) said the demonstration combined its cybersecurity, mission technology and military systems capabilities to provide real-time visibility into cyber risks during field operations.
The company said the demonstration aligns with its NorthStar 2030 corporate strategy, which emphasizes cybersecurity, resilience and defense technologies.
