不做 MaxLinear(MXL.US)

Shares of MaxLinear (MXL), a fabless semiconductor company, fell around 9% on Monday, extending a nearly 22% post-earnings drop recorded on Friday.
The stock dropped $6.73 to close at $64.86. With the retreat over the past two days, shares have now fallen to their lowest level since late April. MXL reached a 52-week high of $128.30 in late June.
MaxLinear reported second-quarter non-GAAP earnings per share of $0.35, topping the $0.33 consensus estimate. Revenue of $168.8 million beat forecasts by roughly $4.1 million and represented 55% year-over-year growth.
Despite the beat, shares sold off sharply as investors sold into results that had largely already been priced in following a more than 300% year-to-date surge heading into the print.
Infrastructure revenue grew 145% year-over-year and now represents approximately 50% of total revenue, driven by demand for MaxLinear's Keystone PAM4 DSP platform among hyperscalers and Tier 1 data center customers. Management raised its full-year 2026 optical data center revenue outlook to $210–230 million, up from a prior range of $150–170 million.
One detail that may have contributed to continued selling pressure: management pushed the timing for its next-generation Rushmore optical interconnect ramp to 2027, a shift from prior commentary.
Following the earnings announcement, Oakoff Investments argued the post-earnings selloff appeared overblown given accelerating infrastructure momentum, while flagging risks including a pending $160 million arbitration claim tied to the terminated Silicon Motion acquisition and supply chain premium costs. On the Q2 earnings call, CEO Kishore Seendripu described the current moment as "the beginning of a multiyear growth phase," pointing to sustained hyperscaler demand for the company's optical connectivity solutions. CFO Steven Litchfield guided third-quarter revenue to $210–220 million and non-GAAP gross margin to approximately 60% at the midpoint.
Management also acknowledged pushing the Rushmore next-generation optical interconnect ramp to 2027, a timing adjustment from earlier commentary. The updated full-year optical data center revenue guidance of $210–230 million reflected confidence in the infrastructure growth trajectory, even as the Rushmore delay introduced near-term uncertainty.
The table below captures a volatile stretch for MXL. The sharp two-session post-earnings decline followed a strong pre-earnings run, including a 15% single-session gain just days before results were released.

Seeking Alpha community members expressed mixed sentiment on MXL's post-earnings selloff, with some pointing to strong infrastructure fundamentals and others questioning whether the stock's massive run-up had disconnected from underlying earnings power.
