Boston Scientific (BSX) disclosed in a regulatory filing it expects to reduce headcount as part of a global restructuring program aimed at improving cost efficiencies and supporting long-term growth.
The medical device maker said the plan, approved by its board on July 21, includes supply chain optimization, production line transfers, functional transformation, and organizational changes.
The restructuring is expected to begin this year and be substantially completed by the end of 2029.
The company did not disclose how many jobs would be eliminated, adding that it also expects to create new positions in growth areas.
Boston Scientific expects to incur pre-tax restructuring charges of about $700M to $800M, including $600M to $700M in future cash outlays.
It said the program is expected to reduce gross annual pre-tax expenses by about $500M, with a substantial portion of the savings to be reinvested in strategic growth initiatives.
