Hilton Worldwide Holdings (NYSE: HLT) reported second-quarter results that beat Wall Street estimates, helped by steady travel demand and higher room rates.
Revenue for the hospitality company rose 6.5% from a year ago to $3.34B, topping the consensus estimate of $3.32B. System-wide comparable RevPAR, a key hotel industry metric, increased 3.9% from the prior year on a currency-neutral basis, driven by higher occupancy and average daily rates.
Adjusted earnings came in at $2.29 per share, above the consensus estimate of $2.27. Net income increased to $482M from $442M, while adjusted EBITDA rose to $1.05B from $1.01B.
Hilton opened 207 hotels, adding 24,100 rooms during the quarter, and approved 42,900 new rooms for future development. Its development pipeline reached a record 541,300 rooms, up 6% from a year ago.
"We delivered strong top and bottom-line results for the second quarter, driven by strengthening demand trends and broad-based momentum across our system," CEO Christopher J. Nassetta said. He added that the company remains confident it can deliver 6% to 7% net unit growth this year and beyond.
Hilton also returned $966M to shareholders during the quarter through share repurchases and dividends, including the buyback of 2.9M shares. It also declared a quarterly dividend of $0.15 per share, payable on September 30 to shareholders of record as of August 21.
The company reaffirmed its full-year 2026 outlook. Hilton expects system-wide comparable RevPAR to grow 3.0% to 3.5%, net income at a midpoint of about $1.9B, adjusted EBITDA to be at a midpoint of around $4.06B, and total capital returns of about $3.5B.
Shares were trading about 3% lower in the premarket trading on Tuesday.
