JetBlue Airways (JBLU) shares reversed early gains and traded about 2% lower shortly after the opening bell following the release of its second-quarter results, highlighting stronger demand, revenue growth, and continued progress under its JetForward transformation plan.
The airline reported operating revenue of $2.7B, up 14.5% year over year, matching the Wall Street estimates. Adjusted loss per share came in at $0.68, in line with expectations, while adjusted net loss totaled $253.4M for the quarter.
Revenue performance was supported by demand strength, with RASM increasing 10.9% year over year. System capacity rose 3.2%, while premium RASM increased approximately 13%, and Main Cabin RASM grew 11%, reflecting broad-based strength across JetBlue’s product portfolio.
“Two years into JetForward, we’re encouraged by the progress we’re making and the results we’re driving across the business,” said Joanna Geraghty, JetBlue CEO.
JetBlue (JBLU) said its JetForward strategy has generated $470M of cumulative incremental EBIT through June 2026 and remains on track to deliver approximately $900M in annual incremental EBIT benefits by the end of 2027. The airline expects those benefits to reach approximately $1.2B annually in 2028 and introduced a long-term target of at least $1.00 in EPS for 2028.
The carrier said it recovered nearly 50% of higher fuel costs during the quarter. Average fuel price was $4.23 per gallon, up about 76% year over year, while CASM excluding fuel, other non-airline operating expenses, and special items increased 2.4%.
Commercial initiatives continued to gain traction, with loyalty revenue rising 13% year over year. JetBlue also highlighted Fort Lauderdale growth, where RASM increased 11% despite nearly 40% capacity growth.
For 2026, at the midpoint of its guidance range, JetBlue (JBLU) expects capacity growth of about 2.5%, RASM growth of approximately 11.3%, CASM ex-fuel growth of 3%, and an adjusted operating margin of roughly (3.5%). Capital expenditures are expected at approximately $850M.
