When SoFi Technologies (SOFI) posts second-quarter earnings on Wednesday, Wall Street expects the lender and banking app company to post EPS of $0.11, up 37.5% year over year, while revenue is expected to jump 31.7% to $1.13B for the quarter.
Last month, SoFi Technologies (SOFI) launched Composer by SoFi, an AI-powered investing platform that helps investors create, test, and execute sophisticated investment strategies using everyday language.
In Q1, SoFi's earnings of $0.12 were in line with market expectations, while its revenue of $1.1B was $50M above Wall Street estimates. In addition, the firm added 1.1M new members during the quarter.
SoFi’s CFO, Chris Lapointe, during the Q1 earnings call, highlighted that the lender expects to deliver adjusted net revenue growth of around 30% year over year, which would equate to roughly $1.115B.
Lapointe added that the adjusted EBITDA margin is expected to be around 30%, equating to roughly $330M, and the adjusted net income margin is expected to be around 12% to 13%, translating to roughly $0.10 to $0.11 of EPS.
Seeking Alpha analysts are bullish, rating the stock a Strong Buy.
Seeking Alpha analyst Krzysztof Bogdanski highlighted that SOFI's tech-enabled banking model drives strong product-per-member growth and fee diversification, with 43% of new products in Q1 coming from existing members.
However, he warned that key risks include potential rate hikes, further equity dilution, and competitive threats to its “one-stop shop” model. He added that Q2 results and loan origination trends will be critical catalysts.
Bogdanski rated SOFI a Strong Buy with a fair value estimate of $22–$26, reflecting a significant discount to peers despite robust book value growth.
On the other hand, Wall Street analysts and Seeking Alpha’s Quant Rating are cautious, rating SOFI a Hold and Sell, respectively.
Truist rates SOFI Hold with a price target of $18.
The brokerage firm noted that personal loan originations across the industry are generally expected to decelerate over the course of 2026 after a strong 2025.
“The 2H setup may prove difficult for SoFi. SoFi will need to sustain strong originations momentum in the second half of the year and grow over a higher base of LPB originations/revenues, which we believe will contribute to a slowdown in growth across top-line KPIs. We continue to be worried about the funding backdrop for SoFi, particularly as some of the LPB 2025 ABSs have hit cumulative net loss triggers, and more broadly, we believe private credit demand for longer-duration consumer loans is declining. This backdrop could either slow origination growth for SoFi and/or put further pressure on its gain-on-sale rate,” Matthew Coad, analyst at Truist, concluded.
SoFi’s shares have slipped nearly 38% year to date, underperforming the benchmark S&P 500, which has gained about 8.3% over the same period.
Over the last two years, SOFI has beaten EPS estimates 63% of the time and revenue estimates 100% of the time.
Over the last three months, EPS estimates have seen no upward revisions and seven downward revisions, while revenue estimates have seen two upward revisions and 14 downward revisions.
