UBS has cut its price target for Boston Scientific (BSX) but says that the company remains a buy despite the stock's poor performance over the last year as established business segments and new product launches will provide growth.
The investment bank cut its price target to $74 from $95 (~63% upside based on July 27 close).
While analyst Patrick Wood said that while the stock has been trading near five-year lows and a recent sell-off is due to missed sales targets and concerns about growth, "the expectations bar has been adequately reset." And though electrophysiology and the Watchman device have driven upside in the past, "we point investors towards underappreciated/ emerging areas of growth as business fundamentals come into question."
MedSurg and cardiovascular businesses are promoting high-growth, end- market exposure, he added.
The EISMIQ Coronary IVL catheter and TIVUS RDN, to treat uncontrolled hypertension, expected to hit the market in, respectively, 2027 and 2028, could address combined potential $2.5B served markets, Wood wrote.
He added that the Empower leadless pacemaker, projected in 2027, could help the company gain market share.
