Rogers Communications (RCI) and Amazon's (AMZN) Prime Video have entered a 12-year sublicensing agreement under which the streaming service will exclusively carry Wednesday night national NHL regular-season games in Canada beginning with the 2026-27 season.
The agreement gives Prime Video exclusive rights to at least 26 national regular-season games each year in English and French, with coverage set to begin on September 30, 2026. The games will be available to Prime members in Canada at no additional charge. Prime Video will also exclusively broadcast select Stanley Cup Playoff matchups, including two first-round series and one second-round series annually.
The companies said the deal extends their existing relationship. Rogers Chief Executive Tony Staffieri said the arrangement would allow Sportsnet to offer more national NHL games while reducing blackouts. Prime Video's Head of Global Sports, Jay Marine, said the agreement broadens the platform's portfolio of live sports available to Canadian subscribers.
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said Prime Video has become an established part of the league's media distribution in Canada over the past two years and said the long-term agreement underscores the partners' commitment to English- and French-language broadcasts.
Sportsnet will continue to hold exclusive English-language rights to more than 500 national NHL games each season, including Monday and Saturday broadcasts and most Stanley Cup Playoff coverage, except for the playoff series included in the sublicensing agreement.
