ProMIS Neurosciences (PMN) climbed on Tuesday after the Canadian company posted interim data from an early-stage trial for its lead asset, PMN310, in patients with Alzheimer's, drawing a price target hike from Guggenheim.
Citing six-month blinded data from its Phase 1 PRECISE-AD trial, the company said the analysis indicated a favorable safety profile for PMN310 and showed a decline in disease-relevant biomarkers consistent with target engagement.
Unlike FDA-approved AD drugs Kisunla from Lilly (LLY) and Leqembi from Biogen (BIIB)/Eisai (ESALF), PMN310 doesn’t bind to amyloid-beta, a compound believed to play a key role in Alzheimer’s pathology. Instead, it selectively targets toxic oligomers of amyloid-beta.
According to the analysis representing 136 patients with AD, there were no cases of amyloid-related imaging abnormalities-edema, a key safety concern with Kisunla and Leqembi. The study is ongoing, with 12-month data expected in Q1 2027.
Guggenheim analyst Eddie Hickman welcomed the readout. With a Buy rating on the stock, he lifted his price target on PMN to $69 from $35, noting that data gives early proof of PMN310's potential to spare amyloid plaques and instead target its toxic oligomers.
“The interim substantially de-risks the safety differentiation question ahead of the unblinded 12-month readout and increases our confidence in drug activity,” Eddie wrote.
