Itron (ITRI) shares surged 22% on Tuesday after the smart-meter maker beat profit estimates and gave an upbeat profit.
The company reported adjusted earnings of $1.59 per share, beating analysts' estimates by $0.30.
Revenue fell 7.2% year over year to $563M, missing expectations by $3.3M.
The revenue decline was driven by a 17% drop in Networked Solutions sales due to the timing of project deployments and lower volumes. Device Solutions revenue slipped 1%, while Outcomes revenue rose 13% on higher services revenue. Annual recurring revenue increased 21% to $417M.
