General Dynamics (GD) on Tuesday promoted Doug Ritter and Erica Striebel to co-vice presidents of government relations as the defense contractor reshaped its Washington leadership following the planned departure of its top lobbying executive.
Ritter and Striebel, who previously served as staff vice presidents of government relations, will report to Shane Berg, who has assumed the newly expanded role of senior vice president for external affairs.
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Phebe Novakovic said Ritter and Striebel bring decades of Capitol Hill experience and have earned the trust and respect of colleagues both inside and outside government.
The company also said Betsy Schmid, who has served as senior vice president of government relations since June 2024 after joining General Dynamics (GD) in 2015, has informed the company of her intention to leave.
"We thank Betsy for her contributions to our company and wish her all the best in her future endeavors," Novakovic said.
Ritter joined General Dynamics (GD) in 2005, while Striebel joined in 2017. Both previously held a range of government and industry positions, including serving as chiefs of staff to members of Congress.
