- Anavex Life Sciences (AVXL) announced on Monday that it nominated Mr. Gautam Patel and Dr. Adrian Senderowicz as new independent directors for election at its 2026 Annual Meeting of stockholders.
- The company said both nominees bring experience in life sciences, drug development, capital markets, and FDA regulations to help support its business and pipeline.
- The nominations come after former Chief Executive Officer Dr. Christopher Missling, who was terminated for cause, and director Dr. Steffen Thomas were not renominated and are expected to leave the board after the annual meeting.
- The board said Dr. Terrie Kellmeyer is serving as interim CEO following the termination of Dr. Christopher Missling.
- The company said it has a strong cash runway with no long-term debt and remains focused on its lead drug candidate, oral blarcamesine, for Alzheimer's disease, Rett syndrome, and Fragile X syndrome.
