Energy Transfer (ET) is scheduled to announce Q2 earnings on Tuesday, August 4th, before market open. The consensus EPS estimate is $0.38 on revenue of $28.86B (+50.0% Y/Y).
Energy Transfer (ET) has raised its 2026 EBITDA guidance to $18.2B–$18.6B, reflecting robust growth across diversified midstream segments, and has also upped its 2026 CapEx from $5.35 billion at the midpoint to $5.7 billion.
For the company that owns and operates a diversified portfolio of energy assets in the United States, however, the main risk is the elevated debt.
"Any major incident in its operations or external shock that shuts down the credit market could force the company to reduce its debt to pay down debt instead of rolling it. To arrive at that scenario, the shock should be prolonged over time since the company has rolled its near-term maturities and has credit facilities; however, it is a risk," SA analyst Melissa Tucker said.
"Another risk is the growth Capex. The company has a huge growth program that I expect will be mainly financed with debt. Any delay or overcost could worsen the project's economics."
How Energy Transfer stacks up against major infrastructure ETFs:
Also of interest, Shell and Phillips 66 are said to be working on a potential sale of their stakes in the company which owns the Explorer refined products pipeline, in a deal that could value the major piece of U.S. energy infrastructure at around $3.5B. Shell and Phillips 66 currently hold around 61% ownership of the legal entity which holds the pipeline. Energy Transfer and MPLX own the rest of Explorer.
Over the last 3 months, EPS estimates have seen 1 upward revision and 2 downward. Revenue estimates have seen 4 upward revisions and 1 downward.
