BWX Technologies (BWXT) said Monday it agreed to sell its medical business, including BWXT Medical and Kinectrics' stable medical isotopes business, to Nordic Capital in a deal valued at as much as $800M.
BWXT (BWXT) said the sale will enable it to focus on accelerating growth in its core nuclear national security and commercial nuclear power markets, areas it said are central to its long-term strategy.
The company said it "remains bullish" on long-term growth in the radiopharmaceutical market and will maintain a meaningful minority ownership stake in the divested business while continuing to provide specialized isotope and radiochemical expertise under the agreement.
The company said it has roughly tripled revenue, improved profitability, and significantly expanded the product portfolio since acquiring the medical business in 2018.
