不做 Warner Bros. Discovery(WBD.US)
Paramount Skydance(PSKY.US)

California Governor Gavin Newsom said he would like to see a settlement of the state attorneys general's lawsuit to block Paramount Skydance's (PSKY) $110 billion purchase of Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) "if it's a good deal."
“That has to be worked through, and that’s a process that’s unfolding,” Newsom said Friday at a press conference in San Francisco, according to a Bloomberg account of the event. “I’m concerned about the state, our reputation.”
Newsom's comments come after a WSJ report that Newsom was concerned about the state's suit to block the deal. Newsom is concerned that if the combination is blocked, it could have negative implications for employment in the state. Newsom's office is encouraging Bonta's office to find a settlement outside of court. Newsom doesn't have any role in the litigation and doesn't have authority over the state AG's actions.
Earlier this month, Paramount (PSKY) CEO David Ellison threatened to relocate the movie studio out of California if he couldn't reach a settlement with California's AG. Paramount (PSKY) would move the studio to Tennessee, Texas, Georgia, or another identified state if he can't reach a deal with California AG Rob Bonta by Oct. 1, according to a Puck News report.
Newsom said at the press conference on Friday that he didn't think Paramount wanted to leave California, though he added that he was taking the possibility seriously.
“I hope that doesn’t happen, and I’m of the belief that they don’t want to see that happen,” Newsom said. “I’m talking about the future of the industry. I’m talking about Hollywood.”
On Wednesday, Cinemark (CNK) became the latest movie theater chain to back the merger of Paramount (PSKY) and Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD), joining Regal Cinemas and AMC Theaters (AMC) in support of the deal.
Shares of Warner Bros. rose 1.1% on Friday, while Paramount edged higher by 0.7%.
