Canadian Pacific Kansas City(CP.CA)

- Seeking Alpha

Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) announced that the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers has agreed to binding arbitration. The development ends the strike that began May 31 after bargaining, federally mandated conciliation, and mediation did not produce a new collective agreement. The union said the central disputes were that wages that lagged comparable railway jobs by roughly $4 per hour, retention issues, and work-life balance for workers, particularly extensive on-call obligations and demanding schedules.
The IBEW represents approximately 300 signals & communications employees across Canada. The workers install, inspect, test, maintain, and repair rail signaling and communications systems across CPKC's (CP) Canadian network, from Vancouver to Montréal. Their work is safety-sensitive because signaling systems help control train movements, protect crossings, and support railway communications.
The railroad company noted affected employees will return to work on Monday.
Shares of Canadian Pacific (CP) are up more than 30% on a year-to-date basis.
