    Seeking Alpha

Walt Disney (DIS) is offering voluntary early retirement packages to eligible senior executives as the entertainment company steps up efforts to lower costs and reshape its workforce.
The time-limited program, known as a Voluntary Early Retirement Offer, was outlined in a memo from Chief People Officer Sonia Coleman to employees at the director level and above. The offer covers qualifying U.S.-based executives in Disney Entertainment, ESPN, and corporate functions.
Executives must meet a threshold of 65 points based on their age and years of service while also being at least 50 years old and having worked at Disney (DIS) for a minimum of 10 years. Contract workers are excluded.
Those who accept the offer can receive separation pay of up to a year, depending on their tenure and position. Disney (DIS) will also allow existing equity awards to continue vesting for three years and provide healthcare coverage at employee rates during the separation period. Participants will retain access to Disney's Silver Pass for life, subject to blackout dates.
The program comes as Disney (DIS) continues a broader restructuring under Chief Executive Josh D’Amaro. The company has eliminated jobs in multiple rounds of cuts this year, and executives have indicated that further workforce reductions are expected.
Coleman said the retirement offer is voluntary and is intended to give eligible employees an opportunity to make an informed decision before broader organizational changes are finalized.
