Watching every single NFL game in 2026 will be an expensive proposition. Broadcast rights are now scattered across a total of nine platforms, which means a dedicated fan hoping to catch every snap of the season would need to stitch together as many as six or seven separate subscriptions. The total bill would be well above $600, depending on existing subscription rates and promotions.
The broadcasters with NFL games this year are CBS (PARA), FOX (FOX), ESPN (DIS), ABC (DIS), NBC (CMCSA), Peacock (CMCSA), Prime Video (AMZN), Netflix (NFLX), and NFL Network (DIS). Out-of-market Sunday afternoon games require NFL Sunday Ticket, which costs $240 for the season for new subscribers, payable as $30 a month over eight months, though returning subscribers pay significantly more if bundled with YouTube TV or as a standalone purchase.
There is a shortcut. Rather than piecing together five or six separate streaming apps, a fan could instead subscribe to YouTube TV's Sports Plan, which costs $64.99 a month, or $54.99 for new subscribers in their first year, and carries CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN, ABC, and NFL Network as live channels, with Sunday Ticket attachable directly to the account. That approach still leaves Amazon's Thursday night games and Netflix's exclusive slate uncovered, but adding those two services on top brings the season total down to somewhere between $450 and $550.
The NFL's current domestic media-rights agreements began in 2023 and are scheduled to run through the 2033 season, covering CBS, FOX, NBC, ESPN/ABC, and Amazon. The original deal was valued at more than $100B over 11 years and established the current Super Bowl rotation. The NFL’s contractual right to reopen or potentially shop CBS's package was triggered by Skydance’s 2025 acquisition of Paramount, which activated a change-of-control provision in the CBS-NFL agreement.
Looking ahead, the NFL can begin informal talks about negotiating a new media rights deal whenever it chooses, but the likely formal negotiating window with most broadcasters will be 2029, ahead of its right to opt out after the 2029 season. ESPN/ABC’s opt-out arrives a year later, so its main negotiation window is likely 2030.
