Okta (OKTA) is scheduled to report second-quarter earnings on August 26, after the closing bell, with analysts anticipating a better-than-expected print.
Wall Street has projected earnings of $0.96 per share, which translates to a 5.5% year-on-year jump. Revenue is seen jumping nearly 9% to $793.03M. This coincides with the management’s guidance of 9% revenue growth for the quarter.
Further, it sees current RPO growth of 11%, non-GAAP operating margin of 26%, and a free cash flow margin of 20% to 21% for the quarter.
Analysts are calling for a Q2 beat, especially given management’s history of issuing conservative guidance and subsequently outperforming it. Over the last 2 years, OKTA has beaten EPS as well as revenue estimates 100% of the time.
Expectations remain favorable, with 23 upward revisions to its EPS and 13 downward adjustments over the last 3 months. Revenue estimates have seen 24 upward revisions and 10 downward.
Ahead of the earnings, the stock was upgraded by analysts at both Wells Fargo and Citizens.
Wells Fargo analyst Richard Poland raised his rating on Okta to Overweight from Equal-Weight, citing signs of improving demand and execution in its core business.
“Increasing body of evidence in support of core demand improving; view low-teens growth as likely base case, rather than upside. Identity's rise in investment priority has become a clear recurring theme in our survey & field work—most recently, partners ranked Identity as the #2 spend priority (behind only AI; up from #4 last quarter),” Poland said.
Citizens analyst Rustam Kanga raised his rating on the cybersecurity firm to Market Outperform from Market Perform.
“Identity continues to be viewed as the most strategically important layer in AI security based on our industry discussions; Okta’s incumbency advantage, large installed base, and neutral platform positioning should benefit the cross-sell/ upsell motion and improve its ability to capture wallet share beyond access management toward adjacencies, such as IGA, PAM, ITDR, and agentic identity,” he said.
