Harley-Davidson(HOG.US)
LiveWire(LVWR.US)
Honda Motor(HMC.US)

Shares of Harley-Davidson (HOG) were kicked lower on Tuesday after Canada’s announcement of retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports raised the potential for anti-U.S. sentiment undermining sales of the iconic American motorcycle north of the border.
HOG was down as much as 3% at the open, retracing more than half to enter midday trading with a loss of 1.4%. By extension, LiveWire (LVWR) was also in the red.
The market reaction appears disconnected from the fundamentals as Harley-Davidson (HOG) assembles all motorcycles in the U.S. and sources 70% to 80% of components domestically.
Additionally, the trend towards fuel-efficient motorcycles positions Honda (HMC) and Kawasaki as favored brands in Canada, rather than premium-priced Harley-Davidson motorcycles. In 2025, the company sold 6,434 units in Canada, showing a steady decline from more than 8K units in 2021.
By comparison, Harley-Davidson (HOG) sold 82.6K units in the U.S., 21.5K in EMEA, 19K in Asia-Pacific, and 3K in Latin America.
With the company already struggling to recover from years of underperformance, activist campaigns, and failure to evolve with consumer tastes, a trade war between the U.S. and Canada will only add another headwind to an already challenging sales environment.
