HP (HPQ) is scheduled to announce Q3 earnings results on Wednesday, August 26th, after market close.
Wall Street, on average, expects the PC maker to post a quarterly EPS of $0.69 (-8.0% Y/Y) on revenue of $14.39B (+3.3% Y/Y).
HP's second-quarter results and outlook beat estimates, helped by pull-forward, better pricing, low-cost inventory benefits, and solid execution in both PC and Print.
HP expects third-quarter earnings to be between $0.61 and $0.71 per share on an adjusted basis, with the midpoint of $0.66. The company tightened up its full-year forecast, as it now expects adjusted earnings between $2.90 and $3.10 per share, compared to a previous view of $2.90 to $3.20 per share.
Recently, HP and Dell Technologies (DELL) shares rose after PC peer Lenovo (LNVGF) reported better-than-expected results for its fiscal first quarter.
“HP is leaning more on pricing and premium mix just as memory and storage costs are starting to bite margins. HP comes into the quarter having already proven that it can grow outside of Printing. The main question is whether this growth in PCs can hold up despite falling volumes and brutal memory cost pressure,” pointed out a recent Seeking Alpha analysis.
Over the last 2 years, HPQ has beaten EPS estimates 38% of the time and has beaten revenue estimates 100% of the time.
Over the last 3 months, EPS estimates have seen 8 upward revisions and 2 downward. Revenue estimates have seen 10 upward revisions and 1 downward.
Since the start of the year, HPQ shares have risen nearly 31%, compared to the 12% rise in the broader S&P 500 index (SP500).
Both the Seeking Alpha's Quant and the Wall Street analysts see the company as a Hold.
HPQ shares were up 2% on Tuesday.
