Investment bankers and others are looking at potential properties that may be for sale if Paramount Skydance (PSKY) needs to make divestitures of Warner Bros. Discovery assets in order to settle a legal dispute with attorneys general trying to block the deal.
Bankers have approached potential bidders about purchasing New Line Cinema from Warner Bros. (WBD), according to a Bloomberg report late Monday, which cited people familiar with the matter. Warner Bros. cable networks are also seeing interest.
Paramount (PSKY) is evaluating offering to negotiate separate distribution agreements for different parts of its TV empire as a way to resolve the litigation, according to the report.
The Bloomberg report comes after multiple media outlets reported that California’s attorney general canceled a meeting with representatives of Paramount (PSKY) that was scheduled for Monday to begin discussing a settlement of the state’s lawsuit seeking to block Paramount’s proposed acquisition of Warner Bros.
Paramount (PSKY) declined to comment on potential settlement terms.
“Paramount is not aware or interested in engaging with unsolicited conjecture regarding our business,” the company said Monday in a statement to Bloomberg. “As stated earlier today, we remain hopeful and stand ready to continue good faith discussions to resolve the attorney general's suit, inclusive of structural remedies to move forward with our transaction.”
Shares of Paramount Skydance rose 3.5% on Tuesday, while Warner Bros. edged higher by 0.6%.
