Jessica Tan was named to lead BlackRock's (BLK) global product solutions division, a unit that has worked to expand actively managed investments in the company's ETF business, according to a media report on Tuesday.
Tan succeeds Stephen Cohen, who established the group in 2024, Bloomberg News reported, citing a memo to employees from CEO Larry Fink and President Robert Kapito. Cohen will take some time to focus on his health, then plans to return to the company as vice chair later this year, the memo said.
The product is aiming to expand its iShares ETFs business as clients demand a wider range of strategies across public and private assets, Fink and Kapito said, according to the Bloomberg reporting. They said uneven and concentrated stock markets, higher-for-longer interest rates, and "unreliable stock-bond correlations" have investors looking to hedge funds, infrastructure and private credit, and quantitative strategies, they wrote.
A BlackRock spokesperson declined to comment to Seeking Alpha.
Tan joined BlackRock in 2010. She has served as head of the Americas unit of the product group, led corporate strategy for the firm, and worked in its financial markets advisory division. She has also been Larry Fink's chief of staff.
