Shares of sports equipment retailer DICK'S Sporting Goods (DKS) tumbled almost 31% on Tuesday after the company reported fiscal second-quarter results that missed estimates on both the top and bottom lines. The company also cut its full-year profit outlook well below Wall Street's expectations.
The stock closed at $124.31, down $55.02 from the prior session's close, on volume of roughly 35.4 million shares, about 21 times the typical daily average. The drop also pushed DKS to a fresh 52-week low.

DICK'S reported fiscal Q2 non-GAAP EPS of $3.53, missing the consensus estimate by $0.23. While revenue of $5.59 billion rose 53.2% year over year, it fell $50 million short of expectations. The DICK'S core business posted 4.9% comparable sales growth, partially boosted by World Cup-related demand.
The recently acquired Foot Locker business, however, was a drag, with pro forma comparable sales for that segment declined 3.6% amid what management described as a challenging, increasingly promotional athletic footwear environment.
As to guidance, DICK'S now projects full-year EPS of $11.00–$12.00, with the midpoint coming in well below the prior consensus of $14.28.
