Shares of Super Micro Computer (SMCI) climbed just over 9% on Tuesday. The stock closed at $38.46, gaining $3.29 after the AI server and IT infrastructure company announced a new partnership with Cisco to expand its Secure AI Factory offering with NVIDIA.
Tuesday's catalyst was a freshly announced partnership between Cisco and Supermicro, under which Cisco will incorporate Supermicro's liquid- and air-cooled server systems into its Secure AI Factory portfolio alongside NVIDIA infrastructure. The integrated solutions are slated to become available starting October 2026.
The news arrived after a choppy stretch for the stock. SMCI fell more than 5% in the prior session and had declined in four of the five sessions before that, unwinding a portion of the gains that followed the company's strong fiscal Q4 earnings report on August 11.
The earnings report itself had been a significant event. SMCI posted adjusted EPS of $1.70, topping the $1.59 consensus estimate, on revenue of $11.12 billion.
