Apple ( AAPL ) CEO John Ternus called the company’s upcoming product launch “phenomenal” in his first memo to employees as chief executive, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday. “We have a huge launch next week that’s going to be phenomenal,” Ternus said in the memo, according to Bloomberg. Apple will hold the event at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, on Sept. 9, under the tagline “Surprise and shine.” The company is widely expected to unveil the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its first foldable iPhone. The foldable iPhone could be a major new revenue opportunity for Apple. Analysts at IDC have projected shipments of more than 17M units by 2027. "We forecast Apple will ship more than 17M foldable iPhones by 2027, capturing roughly 40% of the global foldables market. With an average selling price exceeding $2,550, Apple is expected to generate more than $45.7B in value and account for over half of the category’s total value," says Nabila Popal of IDC. While Bloomberg has reported that the device could be priced above $2,000. The Wall Street Journal estimates that the iPhone 18 Pro could cost about $200 more than its predecessor. The launch also comes as Apple faces higher component costs. Memory prices have surged amid strong demand from AI data centers. The event will mark Ternus’ first major product launch since taking over as Apple CEO from Tim Cook, who will remain with the company as executive chairman.
