The Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X ETF ( SOXL ) has seen more than $3.8B in inflows this week so far and is on track for its largest weekly intake on record. The SOXL ETF has now had three consecutive weeks of inflows, the longest streak since May. Its previous record for weekly inflow was more than $3.1B in June. The ETF, however, is down 7.2% on midday trade on Friday, down almost 25% this week, and down 35% over the past seven trading days. On the other hand, the VanEck Semiconductor ETF ( SMH ) posted more than $430M in inflows so far this week and is on track for its biggest weekly inflow since the beginning of September. The SMH ETF is down 8% this week. In addition, the iShares Semiconductor ETF ( SOXX )—also down about 9% this week—has attracted more than $574M in inflows and is on pace for its second-largest weekly intake since August.
