Las Vegas Sands Corp. ( LVS ) traded lower during the postmarket session on Wednesday after the casino operator posted its third quarter earnings report. Revenue was down 3.3% year-over-year during the quarter to $3.22B to miss the consensus expectation by $110M.  Macau operations generated revenue of $1.94B, which was slightly below the consensus estimate of $1.97B. Operating income was $618M, compared to $719M in the prior year quarter. EPS came in at $0.54 vs. the $0.68 consensus and $0.78 a year ago. Consolidated adjusted property EBITDA was $1.12B vs. the $1.22B consensus and $1.34B a year ago. Marina Bay Sands did the heavy lifting once again with $590M in adjusted property EBITDA but missed the consensus estimate of $680M and was down from last year's mark of $743M. Adjusted property EBITDA as a percentage of net revenue was 34.8% vs. 40.3% a year ago. The Marina Bay Sands had the best mark at 45.6%, followed by The Plaza Macao and Four Seasons Macao at 35.7%. On the balance sheet, Las Vegas Sands ( LVS ) ended the quarter with unrestricted cash balances of $2.86B. As of September 30, total debt outstanding, net of deferred offering costs and original issue discounts, excluding finance leases, was $15.3B. Las Vegas Sands ( LVS ) noted that capital expenditures during the quarter totaled $281M, including construction, development, and maintenance activities of $121M at Marina Bay Sands and $154M in Macao. The company bought back $950M worth of stock and increased the buyback authorization to $6.0B. "We remain confident in our long-term strategy in both Singapore and Macao and will continue to invest in future growth. We are fortunate to have the balance sheet and cash flow strength to support our meaningful capital investment programs, positioning our portfolio of properties to capitalize on the growing demand for premium travel and world-class entertainment experiences in the region," stated CEO Patrick Dumont on the quarter. Shares of Las Vegas Sands ( LVS ) were down 4.0% in after-hours trading to $35.84 following the earnings release.
