Summit Therapeutics(SMMT.US)

Akeso, Inc. (9926.HK) announced that its partner Summit Therapeutics (SMMT) has entered into a clinical trial collaboration with ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group to evaluate Ivonescimab in a registration-enabling Phase II/III study in biliary tract cancer.
Biliary tract cancer (BTC) is a group of rare and aggressive cancers that affect the bile ducts and gallbladder. Because the disease is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, treatment options remain limited and survival rates are generally poor.
The new study, known as EA2251, will evaluate Ivonescimab in combination with chemotherapy against current immunotherapy-based treatment regimens that include Merk's pembrolizumab or durvalumab plus chemotherapy in previously untreated patients with advanced biliary tract cancer.
According to the company, this is the seventh international registrational Phase II/III trial for Ivonescimab and the second Phase III registrational study evaluating the drug in biliary tract cancer.
The collaboration follows positive results from the Akeso's Phase III HARMONi-GI1 study in China, which evaluated Ivonescimab plus chemotherapy against durvalumab plus chemotherapy in first-line biliary tract cancer. The company reported that the study achieved a statistically significant and clinically meaningful improvement in overall survival.
Clinical trial site activations in the United States are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Ivonescimab is a bispecific antibody designed to target both PD-1 and VEGF, two pathways involved in tumor growth and immune evasion. The therapy is being studied across multiple cancer types as part of a broad global clinical development program.
Detailed results from the Phase III HARMONi-GI1 study are scheduled to be presented at the European Society for Medical Oncology 2026 Congress on October 25, 2026.
Akeso has licensed the rights to develop and commercialize Ivonescimab in the United States, Canada, Europe, Japan and several other international markets to Summit Therapeutics under a partnership agreement.
9926.HK closed Wednesday's trading at $92.80, up 1.53%.
