Hanwha Aerospace, Hanwha Systems, and Hanwha Ocean announced on Oct. 13 that they have signed their third sponsorship agreement with the Korea Defense Veterans Association (KDVA) and the Korea-U.S. Alliance Foundation (KUSAF) in Washington, D.C.
Under the agreement, the three defense companies of Hanwha Group will extend their sponsorship through 2031, bringing their total support — which began in 2017 — to 15 years.
Hanwha will support exchanges related to the South Korea-U.S. alliance for five years, from 2027 through 2031. The two organizations plan to expand exchanges among active-duty and reserve service members and their families in South Korea and the United States, as well as personnel who have served in U.S. Forces Korea (USFK).
Hanwha has supported the organizations since they were established in 2017. The latest agreement follows the first sponsorship term from 2017 to 2021 and the second from 2022 to 2026.
Lee Bu-hwan, president and CEO of Hanwha Aerospace, said the company would continue supporting the activities of the two organizations and contribute to security cooperation and the development of the alliance between South Korea and the United States.
