Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) will jointly develop eco-friendly aerospace technologies with Gyeongsang National University.
KAI said on Oct. 15 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the university at its headquarters in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province, on Oct. 14 to promote environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices in the aerospace industry and strengthen cooperation with local communities.
The two sides plan to jointly research core carbon neutrality technologies in the aerospace sector and identify related projects. They will also develop training programs for aerospace specialists focused on ESG management, jointly operate community contribution programs and share research and educational infrastructure.
The partners will establish regular working-level meetings to develop detailed cooperation plans. They will define specific areas of collaboration, ranging from selecting eco-friendly research projects and training specialists to community development initiatives.
"We will work with Gyeongsang National University to cultivate interdisciplinary talent and establish an industry-academia cooperation model that connects research and development achievements with industrial applications and local communities," said Kim Myung-ho, vice president and head of compliance management at KAI.
