Coinbase Global Inc. (NASDAQ:COIN) stock rose Wednesday after a bullish analyst update, a rebound in cryptocurrency prices and new regulatory developments involving stablecoins.
Needham maintained its Buy rating on Coinbase and raised its price forecast from $200 to $205 on Wednesday.
Bitcoin Rebound Supports Coinbase Stock
A recovery in cryptocurrency prices helped lift sentiment toward crypto-related stocks.
Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) gained 3% over the past 24 hours to $84,550.95 on Wednesday.
Broader markets also advanced. The Nasdaq rose 0.80%, the S&P 500 gained 0.22%, and the financial sector climbed 0.37%.
OCC Announces New Stablecoin Rules
The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) announced a regulatory update Wednesday involving payment stablecoins.
Senior Deputy Comptroller and Chief National Bank Examiner James Gallagher said the agency issued a final rule implementing the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins Act.
The OCC also revised weekly and quarterly reporting forms initially proposed in June for permitted payment stablecoin issuers and foreign payment stablecoin issuers.
The agency said the reporting requirements aim to strengthen regulatory compliance, support supervision and improve transparency into issuers’ financial conditions.
Coinbase Earnings In Focus
Investors are also looking ahead to Coinbase’s third-quarter earnings, scheduled for Oct. 29.
Wall Street expects a loss of 11 cents per share, compared with earnings of $1.44 per share a year earlier. Analysts forecast revenue of $1.22 billion, down from $1.87 billion in the year-ago quarter.
Technical Analysis
Coinbase shares remain in a volatile trading range, with mixed signals across key moving averages.
The stock is trading about 3% below its 20-day simple moving average (SMA) of $182.35 and 1.2% below its 50-day SMA of $178.94.
However, shares remain 4.5% above the 100-day SMA of $169.13, suggesting some underlying support despite recent weakness.
The relative strength index (RSI) stands at 49.07, indicating neutral momentum.
The 20-day SMA remains above the 50-day SMA, pointing to a modest short-term bullish trend. However, the death cross formed in December 2025, when the 50-day SMA fell below the 200-day SMA, continues to signal longer-term weakness.
Traders are watching whether Coinbase can reclaim its 200-day SMA of $181.32.
Key resistance stands near $196, while support is around $161.

Coinbase carries a consensus Buy rating with an average price forecast of $220.38.
