Speaker 2: The Stock Movers Report. Your roundup of companies making moves in the stock market. Harnessing the power of Bloomberg data.
Speaker 1: I'm Jim Stenevek along with Carol Masser. Let's take a look at some stocks on the move today. We are joined by Nora Melinda. She's Bloomberg Television Markets Correspondent.
Speaker 3: Hey, Nora.
Speaker 4: Hey, well, we got to talk banks today. That's been all the attention. I'm looking at the KBW index. That's ticker BKX. It's down by about 1%. But when you take a look at what the story has really been today, it's really been the fact that lending still remains strong. You saw that across JP Morgan, Citi, Wells Fargo, setting a record when it comes to lending income. And there was a lot of focus still when it comes to equity trading, which we know we saw that blockbuster quarter last quarter. And we did still see strength when it comes to equity trading, but not nearly as spectacular of a quarter as we saw before. So you see investors kind of weighing that. And then lastly, of course, you've really seen that soft spot when it comes to fixed income. And that's where a lot of investors are really digging into when it comes to some of these reports. I'm seeing shares of JP Morgan, not just a touch by about two tenths of a percent. Citi, though, it's getting a bit hammered down by about four point three percent right now as we speak.
Speaker 3: I'm just going to say, though, the shares, like you go in and they've been all over the place. I mean, JP Morgan was up 3% at its highs today, down about 1% at its lows. I mean, they've all been bouncing around in a big way.
Speaker 4: Absolutely. And then we're going to be hearing from Morgan Stanley tomorrow as well. So Bank of America also. So we'll have to see whether or not this broader theme about the fixed income issues and equity trading, if this is what is going to present to be the case in these earnings as well tomorrow.
Speaker 3: All right. So let's get to, let's talk Johnson & Johnson because this stock is getting beat.
Speaker 4: Yeah, the stock is down about 5.8%. The company missed its sales for the third quarter in terms of estimates. And it's really a slowdown when it comes to the company's medical devices unit. That really overshadowed demand that we are seeing for newer drugs when it comes to cancer and autoimmune diseases. And so it's really been weighing on the company. And this is a company that has actually been doing pretty decently well this year. It's up about 20% on a year-to-date basis. But as for today, investors are really taking a look at these results and they're not super happy, clearly.
Speaker 3: Yeah, not so impressed.
Speaker 4: All right.
Speaker 1: Can we talk about pizza?
Speaker 4: Yeah, we would talk about.
Speaker 3: That, right?
Speaker 1: I'd like to get some pizza.
Speaker 3: Yeah, I would too.
Speaker 4: From Domino's specifically?
Speaker 1: Listen, tough question. Because if you live in New York City, and by the way, there are a lot of Domino's pizzas here. We do. You have a lot of places to get pizza from than just Domino's.
Speaker 4: We will say that.
Speaker 3: As John Tucker of surveillance this morning kind of said, and I'm going to paraphrase, but basically like, you know, if you've been out or partying all night.
Speaker 4: Having a good time.
Speaker 1: Oh, like they're open late. Okay. What's going on with Domino's pizza?
Speaker 4: Well, I mean, are you guys protein maxing? Have you heard of protein maxing?
Speaker 1: I've heard of it.
Speaker 4: Okay. You can really max anything actually.
Speaker 3: Just eat a balanced diet, folks. Yes.
Speaker 4: You tell the people, Carol. Well, essentially budget conscious consumers, which we know a lot of people have been tightening their wallets. Apparently they're eating out less and they're actually favoring chicken and As a part of protein maxing, this whole trend that we're seeing across social media broadly.
Speaker 1: Stuff the crust with cheese.
Speaker 4: With chicken.
Speaker 1: And chicken.
Speaker 4: Okay, cheese and chicken. Is that what we're going to do?
Speaker 1: That is so disgusting. Then you're protein maxing.
Speaker 4: It doesn't sound too great.
Speaker 3: I hate stuffed pizza.
Speaker 4: But it did beat expectations of both profit and revenue. Same store sales, they barely grew in both the U.S. or overseas.
Speaker 1: Tough comps, though, for Domino's this quarter. And that's one of the issues. But still, stock moving lower. What, down by almost 4%?
Speaker 3: Right.
Speaker 4: And it's down about 28% so far this year.
Speaker 3: Wow.
Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm super picky about my pizza.
Speaker 4: So that's Domino's for you. Thin crust, round, a little cold.
Speaker 3: So good.
