Speaker 1: The Stock Movers Report. Your roundup of companies making moves in the stock market. Harnessing the power of Bloomberg data.
Speaker 3: Let's take a look now at some stocks on the move today in Europe. I'm Rachel Evans with Stephen Carroll and we're joined by our reporter Tiwa Adebayo. Tiwa, thank you for being here. Earnings for Ericsson today. How are investors reacting? Seems pretty positive. Yeah, it does seem like they're reacting pretty well. Shares have jumped the most since January. So, up as much as 10.6%.
Speaker 2: This morning. And that's after its third quarter earnings beat analysts' expectations. So, driven by solid demand for mobile network equipment in the core markets. Adjusted earnings were 10.1 billion Swedish kronor, about a billion dollars over the period. which compares to an average estimate of 7.93 billion kroner. So, up from that, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. We've seen a new CEO taking over this month after the business has been struggling for a few years with a sluggish market, especially for its 5G network equipment. And he's really been seeking to revive the business after his predecessor cut expenses and headcount. JP Morgan analysts saying that these results show strong execution from the company in a difficult market. So, perhaps echoing that sentiment. But shares up for Ericsson this morning.
Speaker 1: Yeah, indeed.
Speaker 4: And I spoke to the CEO on Bloomberg Television this morning, too, talking about what little margin they have really to renegotiate contracts. Their customers tend to be over quite a long-term basis as well, although those price pressures are going to become more serious from next year. Let's go next to the drinks brand Pernod Ricard. Their shares are higher in Paris this morning.
Speaker 2: Yeah, also gains for Pernod Ricard up as much as 3.9%. And that's also after results analysts broadly welcoming their first quarter results, specifically noting improved momentum in the U.S. and China.
Speaker 1: So, J.P.
Speaker 2: Morgan saying that the results, especially with regards to the U.S. and China, are encouraging. Noting, though, weakness in Europe, which they see as a negative read for European distillers more broadly– but maybe a positive read across to the spirits sector. Similarly, Bernstein calling out the U.S. and China and saying underlying depletions in China are positive and see slightly improving trends in the U.S.
Speaker 1: As well.
Speaker 2: So, positive momentum expected at drinks brand Pernod Ricard.
Speaker 3: And finally, Entain, they've also been reporting their latest earnings.
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the international sports betting and gambling company, Entain, listed in London. Shares are sliding as much as 3.8%. That's after they posted some softer online net gaming revenue than was expected. They're saying it's due to unfavorable sports results in Italy and also a provisional ban on online gambling in in Brazil. But they are saying that they expect things to improve. Analyst commentary from Barclay saying that Entain continues to gain market share in the U.K. and online. Jefferies actually saying that they think these shares are undervalued. given that the risk ahead of the UK budget is well priced in and they have a relatively low valuation. So, shares down for Entain this morning and some mixed feedback from analysts too.
