PWR's 2Q results significantly beat on revenue, EBITDA, and EPS versus the Street, segment margins were well ahead of consensus, backlog reached record levels, and full-year guidance was raised substantially. We believe the guidance raise reflects genuine demand acceleration across grid, generation, and technology end markets, with the technology and load center outlook in particular stepping up dramatically from last quarter. Four acquisitions closed at a compelling implied multiple, deepening PWR's craft-skilled capabilities across electrical, mechanical, fabrication, and front-end disciplines. We are raising our estimates and establishing a Dec 27 price target of $690, from a prior Dec 26 price target of $714. Maintain Neutral.

Strong beat and raise; Data center momentum continues to build. PWR beat Street revenue by ~12%, adj. EBITDA by ~22%, and adj. EPS by ~31%. Electric Infrastructure EBIT margin of 11.5% cleared Street by ~120bps, driven by increased scope, self-performed solutions, and efficient resource utilization. Underground margin of 9.1% beat Street by ~70bps, led by civil and mechanical strength. Notably, the CEO flagged a path toward parity with the Electric segment over time as work mix and fabrication capabilities improve. Total backlog reached a record $53.4bn with a book-to-bill of ~1.5x, reflecting broad-based awards and increased volumes with existing customers. The company expects a significant portion of the NiSource program to enter backlog in 3Q26 as air permits are obtained. Full-year guidance was raised substantially across all metrics. The revenue midpoint increased ~$4.55bn vs. last quarter's guide, with $1.2-1.4bn attributable to acquisitions closed subsequent to 1Q and the balance reflecting organic outperformance and improved second-half visibility. Technology and load center revenue growth outlook stepped up to 220-240% y/y from 100-120% at the prior 1Q update (~half of the step up is inorganic). FCF was also ahead of expectations; the CFO cited favorable contracting terms and a growing mix of MEP, EPC, and renewables work as structural tailwinds, and reiterated a 55-60% adj. EBITDA-to-FCF conversion target with potential to be at the high end or better. See more details on the results in the charts below.

Four acquisitions at compelling implied multiples extend the platform.
PWR completed the acquisitions of Phalcon, Enerfab, Percheron, and PSD during 2Q and in July, adding ~7,400 employees and deepening craft-skilled capabilities across electrical, mechanical, fabrication, and front-end services disciplines. Aggregate upfront consideration was ~$1.24bn net of cash, with up to ~$242mm of contingent consideration tied to post-closing performance targets, implying a transaction multiple of ~5.2x EBITDA on upfront consideration, or ~6.2x EBITDA including contingent consideration, versus precedent electrical and mechanical transactions in the 8-11x range (see precedent transactions chart in the pages below). The acquired companies are expected to contribute $1.2-1.4bn of revenue and $120-140mm of adj. EBITDA in 2026 on a post-closing basis. Strategically, these deals continue PWR's multi-year platform-building approach, assembling deep self-performing capabilities across disciplines rather than concentrating around
Investment Thesis
PWR is the premier infrastructure specialty contractor with leading market share in the growing US power delivery and renewable markets. We believe PWR is the best positioned of specialty contractors to capitalize on the US energy transition, accelerating energy demand, and large-scale grid investment. We believe PWR should appeal to long-term investors who want to own best-in-class operators that are well positioned to benefit from secular trends and who are less concerned with currently elevated trading multiples. We continue to view PWR as a premium option in our coverage for investors with several-year horizons, but we believe risk/reward is approximately balanced at current levels.
Valuation
Maintain Neutral. We are establishing a Dec 27 price target of $690, from a prior Dec 26 price target of $714, based on an assigned multiple of 30x our revised FY28E PF EPS (from 42x prior, discounted back one year). We have reduced the assigned multiple owing to lower trading multiples across the space. Our assigned valuation multiple is a discount to the current NTM trading multiple and is a slight premium to the 5-year historical average, which we believe is justified by the company’s opportunity to drive above historical average earnings growth rates through work on large transmission projects, gas generation projects, and data center opportunities.
