3Q26 sales beat on LEAP ramp and mature ASP strength

13 October 2026

ASE reported 3Q26 sales +28% QoQ better than its guide, driven by stronger IC ATM
(+20% QoQ vs. BofAe +13% QoQ) and mild upside in EMS (+42% QoQ vs. BofAe +40%
QoQ). We believe IC ATM strength is led by modest mainstream packaging and testing
price hike on industry supply tightness, supplemented by LEAP business ramp. EMS also
benefited from Apple product seasonal builds and higher component cost pass through.
With improving packaging and testing utilization and ASP and rising LEAP mix, we
expect its IC ATM GMs to improve 300bps QoQ to 30% (vs. high-20% guide) though
consolidated GMs (+180bps QoQ to 23%) could be partially offset by EMS outgrowth.

Equity

AI pipeline diversification anchors capex plan in ’26-28
We model ASE’s 4Q26 IC ATM sales +7-9% QoQ as its LEAP opportunity diversifying
from TSMC outsourcing to direct project wins including AMD’s Venice CPU, putting sales
on track to +42% YoY in ’26 (vs. its +35% guide). Its IC ATM GMs could further expand
to 31% as LEAP reaching 30% of its sales (vs. 18%/22% in 1H/3Q26). While we expect
ASE to spend US$13bn+ annual capex in ’27-28 (vs. US$10.5bn in ’26), the accelerating
IC ATM sales (BofAe +40% CAGR from ’26-28) on advanced expansion and mature price
uplift, along with the business mix upgrade to cloud AI/HPC projects carrying 35-45%
GMs should offset hiking depreciation (BofAe +39% CAGR from ’26-28), lifting its IC
ATM GM from 29% in ’26 to low 30% in ’27 and mid 30% in ’28 with operating leverage.

Stronger earnings quality unlocks re-rating potential

We lift our ’26/27/28E EPS to NT$20/NT$34/NT$50 on strong LEAP outlook. Keep Buy
rating and raise POs from NT$800 (US$51) to NT$900 (US$58) still on 20x 2H27-1H28
P/E (vs. its 5-26x range) backed by its structural business transformation with better
sales and GMs growth profile as the industry supply further consolidates amid higher
tech entry barrier.

Company Sector

ASE Technology Holding | 13 October 2026

Company Description
Established in 1984 and headquartered in Taiwan, ASE
Technology Holding is the no.1 outsourced assembly and
testing (OSAT) firm globally, in terms of market share by
revenue. ASE acquired Siliconware Precision (SPIL) in 2018,
and had acquired USI in 2010, which became its EMS
business segment providing synergies in system-level
packaging. 2 shares = 1 ADR.

Investment Rationale
We rate ASE Buy, factoring in the company's opportunity in
advanced packaging and testing evidenced in TSMC's
outsourcing and its own heavy capex investment. The
strategy shift should allow the company to capture fast
growing addressable market in high performance
computing applications and improves its margins. ASE
could maintain its leading position in the Outsourced
Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) universe, owing
to its well-established footprints and widespread service
offerings.

Price objective basis & risk
ASE Technology Holding (XSRIF / ASX)
We value ASE Technology Holding at NT$900 per share (US$58 for ADR), based on 20x
2H27-1H28E P/E, above its historical range of 5-26x, in view of its solidified industry
position in AI era. We use P/E ratio to value ASE as the company has been able to
maintain healthy profitability through the cycles in the past 20 years due to
consolidating industry landscape supporting a more benign supply/demand and keeping
pricing and margins less cyclical.
Downside risks to our PO are 1) share loss and/or ASP erosion owing to Chinese players'
cannibalization and/or ASE's worsening execution, 2) weakening end demand due to
uncontrollable matters, such as macro halt and/or geopolitical tensions, 3) regulatory
issues that could hinder ASE from generating synergies and benefit its competitors.

FUNDAMENTAL EQUITY OPINION KEY: Opinions include a Volatility Risk Rating, an Investment Rating and an Income Rating. VOLATILITY RISK RATINGS, indicators
of potential price fluctuation, are: A - Low, B - Medium and C - High. INVESTMENT RATINGS reflect the analyst’s assessment of both a stock’s absolute total return
potential as well as its attractiveness for investment relative to other stocks within its Coverage Cluster (defined below). Our investment ratings are: 1 - Buy stocks
are expected to have a total return of at least 10% and are the most attractive stocks in the coverage cluster; 2 - Neutral stocks are expected to remain flat or
increase in value and are less attractive than Buy rated stocks and 3 - Underperform stocks are the least attractive stocks in a coverage cluster. An investment
rating of 6 (No Rating) indicates that a stock is no longer trading on the basis of fundamentals. Analysts assign investment ratings considering, among other things,
the 0-12 month total return expectation for a stock and the firm’s guidelines for ratings dispersions (shown in the table below). The current price objective for a
stock should be referenced to better understand the total return expectation at any given time. The price objective reflects the analyst’s view of the potential price
appreciation (depreciation).

value or risks related to the security or financial instrument may be difficult to obtain. Investors should note that income from such securities and other financial instruments, if any, may
fluctuate and that price or value of such securities and instruments may rise or fall and, in some cases, investors may lose their entire principal investment. Past performance is not necessarily a
guide to future performance. Levels and basis for taxation may change.
This report may contain a short-term trading idea or recommendation, which highlights a specific near-term catalyst or event impacting the issuer or the market that is anticipated to have a
short-term price impact on the equity securities of the issuer. Short-term trading ideas and recommendations are different from and do not affect a stock's fundamental equity rating, which
reflects both a longer term total return expectation and attractiveness for investment relative to other stocks within its Coverage Cluster. Short-term trading ideas and recommendations may
be more or less positive than a stock's fundamental equity rating.
BofA Securities is aware that the implementation of the ideas expressed in this report may depend upon an investor's ability to "short" securities or other financial instruments and that such
action may be limited by regulations prohibiting or restricting "shortselling" in many jurisdictions. Investors are urged to seek advice regarding the applicability of such regulations prior to
executing any short idea contained in this report.
Foreign currency rates of exchange may adversely affect the value, price or income of any security or financial instrument mentioned herein. Investors in such securities and instruments,
including ADRs, effectively assume currency risk.
