- 映射模式: sector_sympathy

[15:55:07 ET] Strategy went into the large kept value benchmarks right, so a lot of shifts between the R1 V and the R1.
[15:55:15 ET] And so we were very aware of that, ironically, the memory trade, which really helped the value.
[15:55:23 ET] Went into the large cap growth benchmark at peak valuations, those stocks that had incredible runs.
[15:55:31 ET] Their performance and large cap value, and so we did make some decisions as those names shifted into our large cap growth portfolio.
[15:55:39 ET] To be underweight some of them and wait for better entry points and better opportunities where we could lean in that reconution though.
[15:55:47 ET] And I am curious as to whether that actually maybe created maybe at some degree of mispri out there, I mean, I know they had to do it, but still.
[15:55:55 ET] We believe that it did, a lot of names got repriced and we looked at our portfolios for several months, right a lot of different firms come out with.
[15:56:03 ET] Soold projections and we spent a significant amount of time the five weeks leading into the reconstitution, remodeling our portfolios.
[15:56:11 ET] For mid, for example, going back to t missile, if we had done nothing, we would have been even more overweight momentum.
[15:56:19 ET] We would have been even more overweight technology, especially semis, because of the way the reconstitution went software went up.
[15:56:27 ET] A significant amount health care went up a significant amount so we did make some changes all driven by stock selection leaning into the.
[15:56:35 ET] Highest rated names across our platform that our analysts recommended and did make some changes based on that because momentum.
[15:56:43 ET] Had reached such an extreme that it seemed unlikely that it was going to continue, so it did create that dislocation of opportunities.
[15:56:51 ET] Now we've just had a month, as you mentioned, where momentum crashed for lack of a better word, software and some other.
[15:56:59 ET] listening to you, I mean I just wonder, I mean, you know, managing your managing growth through ramp managing value, small caps, we haven't talked about international I do sort of wonder whether.
[15:57:07 ET] of these traditional style boxes in this day and age are maybe a little bit less useful I mean we try to lean in.
[15:57:15 ET] Understanding what stocks are going to win right so to your point, the index can really hide meaningful.
[15:57:23 ET] Dispersion in valuations in earnings and in business quality and so we always lead with stock selection.
[15:57:31 ET] And we are active managers, so if we don't have a favorable thesis on a certain security, but it is.
[15:57:39 ET] A big part of the benchmark, we as active managers have that flexibility in order to your point to lean in or to say, you know what this doesn't.
[15:57:47 ET] itSometimes you have fallen angels that aren't necessarily in the Russell 100.
[15:57:55 ET] U index because they started in growth, but it's a very high quality company we've done a lot of work on it, we've met with a management team, we might have owned it.
[15:58:03 ET] DifferentFrom point of time and we can make as many out of benchmark bets as we want so it's not all based on just the benchmark which.
[15:58:11 ET] What passive funds do I do have to ask you I mean all four year funds, I mean, you just kind of cross that three year mark that's kind of the magic number for a little bit more.
[15:58:19 ET] Of the platforms and models out there are you anticipating any meaningful uptick in flows as a result of it i mean this eTF business as a whole here.
[15:58:27 ET] T price, it's still small, still growing, but I mean, once you start crossing those milestones, people take notice we're currently.
[15:58:35 ET] A $34 billion in ETF at EuroO price, we have 34 ETFs in market20.
[15:58:43 ET] Our equity and the remainder are fixed income for us, these four just crossed about 7.5 billion.
[15:58:51 ET] In Aum and had their three year track record, so that has been a great accomplishment because a lot of our.
[15:58:59 ET] Clients, they don't want to look at funds that don't have a long track record that don't have experience through different types of markets so yes.
[15:59:07 ET] We believe that this will open more doors for models and being able to really lean into marketing the suite as a whole.
[15:59:15 ET] All of the EFs are well over a billion dollars with sid being the most attractive because I think it is the most unique really.
[15:59:23 ET] And that has been where we've had the most opportunity to differentiate our alpha leave.
[15:59:31 ET] It's great to have you as you get the closing bills in New York, Jody Love, lead portfolio manager of the Growth international E, small midca.
[15:59:39 ET] And value E here at T Ro Price back to you New York, Iel for the closing bes. Thank you that was a fantastic with markets.
[15:59:47 ET] Here, you're seeing stocks bond lower as oil or oil prices are rising again, we're seeing a flare up in geopolitical risks, which are sending these across.
[15:59:55 ET] It moves's also raising concerns about inflationary pressures which could make the Fed raise raise. I think we are actually on track, at least for the.
[16:00:03 ET] AndP, to see the best month in two months and also for the Nasdaq, you're seeing Treasury moves, of course, the ten0 year yield top4 .
[16:00:11 ET] On Mondayday for the first time since ja 2025 an oil is also above $90 a barrel and for some individual move.
[16:00:19 ET] Let's now bring in Bloomberg's Emily Grphao and Denita Tacova to get us some of those action behind the hood, Emily, what do you have?
[16:00:27 ET] I want to start with Tesla it was one of the best performers in the S&P 500 today, and it was actually only one of the two MagG7 members that was.
[16:00:35 ET] On the day, Nvidia was the other one, not a ton of like fundamental news, at least on the day, but right now investors are preparing for Teslas.
[16:00:43 ET] Invite only cyber cab lawn Wow in Austin, Texas, this is coming on Thursdayday, so this is an autonomous vehicle that they've been.
[16:00:51 ET] For quite some time now, it's not going to have a steering wheel or pals gosh I don't know if I want that right.
[16:00:59 ET] Yeah, I mean, some people like it, I guess the shareholders today are excited about this, but I do want to highlight kind of just some longer term.
[16:01:07 ET] With Tesla, the stock still down 19% year to date, but in the last month, it's up about 18% and then today it did hit the highest interest.
[16:01:15 ET] Level since July, so looking forward to that Thursday event and what comes out of that definitely I also want to flag crowd strike holdings This was another stock.
[16:01:23 ET] Kind of outperforming the broader indexes today, the shares up about 6% on the close closing actually at a record is.
[16:01:31 ET] It's a cyber firm today announcing that it's partnering with clear security, you know, the airport security line clear.
[16:01:39 ET] Yeah, so they're forming a strategic partnership, the clear one identity platform will be integrating with crowdstrikes Falcon risk.
[16:01:47 ET] That was the news on the day, but really the broader picture for crowdstr they had earnings last week, they blew it out of the water the stock has been.
[16:01:55 ET] It's hair ever since and over two years, I think yeah, it's all on that kind of idea that now that there's more artificial intelligence theres going to be.
[16:02:03 ET] enterpriseterprise demand for cyber securitycurity and its protection. And then finally, shifting from cyber and AI to.
[16:02:11 ET] Agriculture and farming machinery real exactly, Deer was another one of the best performers in the S&P 500 today.
[16:02:19 ET] G over at Baird, the analysts turning bullish on the stock saying that corn and soy futures are reaching levels that.
[16:02:27 ET] To higher agricultural machine demand. so that's stock up about 4% to finish today. we always need more corn.
[16:02:35 ET] So future the what staying on the commodities team, we're going to look at utilities we're looking at PG and ecor.
[16:02:43 ET] And Edison International, we have big legislation moving from California that is all about wildfire response.
[16:02:51 ET] Expected is that some measures to shield utilities companies from liabilities were going to be included in that legislation.
[16:02:59 ET] We actually didn't see and we're seeing massive moves in the stocks, PG and EFA as much as 21%, this is the biggest move since 2020.
[16:03:07 ET] Similarly moves for Edison fell as much as 24% the biggest drop since 2001, really, really massive moves interesting.
[16:03:15 ET] And obviously, there are a lot of people involved from fire survivors to insurers, and people are figuring out who carries the cost of this, but definitely very.
[16:03:23 ET] had news for utilities companies who actually had a pretty big jump going into it was a very positive ferraity.
[16:03:31 ET] Energy prices, but nevertheless, we're seeing very different results today for Pinterest, very different story.
[16:03:39 ET] Pinterest are well, you know how people are like, oh, we use so much social media and Pinterest is like different, you do your mood board and you do.
[16:03:47 ET] Yeahing thingss like aspirational. Well, it's been having not such a great time as a stock stockoke is out 7%.
[16:03:55 ET] It's a big move. Chief financial officer Julie Brown Donnelly will step down, and that comes just a few weeks after the company gave a revenue outlook.
[16:04:03 ET] The current quarter that disappointed investors, the stock is already down 17% year to date. This is adding more pressure.
[16:04:11 ET] Re, some revenue growth, we're seeing that trend that this is kind of alternative up to social media, and it's helping. But nevertheless the.
[16:04:19 ET] down and today's management news are not great. And in another management news, we're seeing herballife falling 11%.
[16:04:27 ET] The company's CEO is stepping down huge news. and this is coming not long after the CFO stepped down.
[16:04:35 ET] resure for the company. It's been interesting in the year of Oza weight losing drugs, like a lot of those herbal.
[16:04:43 ET] If products have been doing well, they've actually been profitable them Yeah because they had more like, oh, this is a protein thing, like it's not necessarily.
[16:04:51 ET] It's not necessarily about losing weight it's about keeping the consistency, getting some protein and building muscle and it's very helping, but not today.
[16:04:59 ET] Today the show is now Oh gosh, thank you for those Mors, Bloombergs, Emily Grphao and Danita Tle always a pleasure to have them both on set.
[16:05:07 ET] Coming up more from the top minds at Tro Price, including D Sawyer, the firm's head of global distribution and CEO Rob Shars.
[16:05:15 ET] I'm Bloomberg.
[16:05:23 ET] The.
[16:05:31 ET] The.
[16:05:39 ET] The.
[16:05:47 ET] The.
[16:05:55 ET] In case you missed it on Bloomberg deals, we're invested in another restaurant, so we're in Shassha.
[16:06:03 ET] So how significant is your position're economically one of the larger shareholders, maybe the largest active shareholder.
[16:06:11 ET] YouWe're really excited. And when you look at the quality of this business, how great a business it is, how much it's growing, how many new stores.
[16:06:19 ET] Can open it's just too cheap at Shake Shack are there operational changes that you think that they should be making and that you would push to make?
[16:06:27 ET] I don't think there are massive operational changes, so if you can have among the best returns on a new restaurant build, it makes it easier.
[16:06:35 ET] To justify building more and more restaurants, whether you do it yourself or you have a franchisee do it. So the opportunity here isn't.
[16:06:43 ET] operationally, we think they do a great job there, the opportunity is to continue their mid teens growth and accelerate it even further.
[16:06:51 ET] Don't miss Bloomberg deals live every week.
[16:06:59 ET] With a growing influence in global affairs, Bberg, the China show brings you the unmatched expertise you need to keep track of.
[16:07:07 ET] news in depth market analysis and the most influential news makes in and around China good for that Hong Kong market.
[16:07:15 ET] We saw has stabilized is being a very, very important Bberg the China show weekday at 9 PM Eastern.
[16:07:23 ET] Right here on Bloomberg, context Change everything.
[16:07:31 ET] The countdown is on everything you need to get the edge at the end of the market day.
[16:07:39 ET] This is the close.
[16:07:47 ET] with a special edition live from t bro price headquarters in baltimore as we close out the trading day and close out the month of august.
[16:07:55 ET] Remember the s& 500 started off the month of august with its strongest two day rally in about four a month and it closes out.
[16:08:03 ET] The month of august now, with what looks like is going to be well we'll just call it a modest a two day decline down about three tenths of a percent here still.
[16:08:11 ET] Though we are up for the month on all of the major indices, including the 3% gain on the SP, roughly 4% on the nasdaq composite.
[16:08:19 ET] And it gets to this idea here of exactly what comes next you put it up with the board and you take a look at arusll 1000 index on a month.
[16:08:27 ET] s the gains that it added there at about 2.7% and that big rebound that we saw in a lot of those software stocks Gv.
[16:08:35 ET] Equity ETF, up about a software, ETF, I should say, up about 16% to close out the month and look at that differential.
[16:08:43 ET] the phelphia semiconductor index only only adding 2% here, that's a big flip fl for of course the world beating phadelphia.
[16:08:51 ET] Conductor index for the first few months of the year you flip it up once more and take a look at some of the individual gainers in the most recent month.
[16:08:59 ET] the biggest decliners that we saw in that month, believe it or not, you take a look there at the bottom of your screen and it gives you some sense here of where we.
[16:09:07 ET] And quite frankly what may come next a big softness there in alphabet for the month, but some of the bigger gainers again, some of those beaten down.
[16:09:15 ET] Like palantir and at lastsian in the software space a 92% gain for at lastssian in the month of.
[16:09:23 ET] AAll though we should point out that the structural pattern is still un the big inflows that we've seen into mutual funds and ets.
[16:09:31 ET] Still outpacing what we saw through the similar period back in 2025 here at t row price they manage one point.
[16:09:39 ET] 9 trillion though last month they did see in july they saw about $8.2 billion of that walk out the door, a small amount but that is.
[16:09:47 ET] The reality of being the biggest pure active manager in a world of passive e and index funds the person in charge of revers these flow.
[16:09:55 ET] Is deawyer head of global distribution who oversees every channel from 401k plans to wires to the firm's international.
[16:10:03 ET] In her toolkits evolved it includes active es that just hit a three year milestone as we heard from jody a partnership with Goldman sachchs.
[16:10:11 ET] As into retirement accounts and a fixed income ef acquisition announced two weeks ago d that's a lot thanks for having us here you.
[16:10:19 ET] You've been very busy and obviously you are really integral right now to the evolution of t row price from its roots.
[16:10:27 ET] As an actively managed mutual fund company to now one that is way more diversified, still active, but a lot more diversified, talk to me.
[16:10:35 ET] About where that diversification is going to take youYeah what we're excited about is we continue to meet clients where they need us to be and we.
[16:10:43 ET] Conue to offer really strong value proposition The value proposition starts with investment excellence, but it goes beyond that.
[16:10:51 ET] that clients are looking for more choice, they're looking for more personalization, they're looking for us to be more relevant to what they're.
[16:10:59 ET] And so we're excited about where we've seen positive flows for the organization. We've seen really strong flows.
[16:11:07 ET] Fixed income in our multi asset solutions and so when you think about where we are, we have the opportunity to continue to provide a.
[16:11:15 ET] Of solutions for our clients that comes in many shapes and sizes you can think about model portfolios, or SMs or active ETFs.
[16:11:23 ET] Or bespoke solutions, so we believe we have the opportunity to continue to provide active management, but with a stronger value proposition for the future.
[16:11:31 ET] Well give me a sense though too, obviously there's a bridge here between I guess the more legacy business for lack of a better phrase, i mean, so most of the revenue is still coming.
[16:11:39 ET] From the mutual side, but still half of your products now right now are outside more or less the mutual fun world.
[16:11:47 ET] And saw a stat that you're still headed for at least on a gross basis as record inflows, but obviously on a net, there's still some concern here, is there a bridge?
[16:11:55 ET] you look to or does that not matter you just look way out into the future and that's your focus Well first, we are a long term firm we're focused on the.
[16:12:03 ET] s and an investment excellence proposition that delivers outcomes for clients over the long term, we believe active management.
[16:12:11 ET] Still really matters it matters in taxable accounts, it matters in retirement accounts and that matters over the long term.
[16:12:19 ET] Aolutely100% if you think about why does somebody choose somebody like Tber price, they choose us because of active management.
[16:12:27 ET] And the ability for a firm like to or price to uniquely drive better outcomes so that to me makes a difference.
[16:12:35 ET] Every is looking for active solutions that make a difference over time, and we believe active has a place in everybody's portfolio.
[16:12:43 ET] Well, when we talk about, I mean, I listed a long list of things in that intro, we talk about the push into active ETFs and obviously the F.
[16:12:51 ET] Acquisition the partnership with Goldman, I mean, which one of those do you look to as being sort of the first big driver of?
[16:12:59 ET] Inal and more importantly, more meaningful revenue growth, I think the first where I would start is you have to recognize we are.
[16:13:07 ET] $1.8 trillion asset manager we have 16 offices around the globe, we operate in 61 countries.
[16:13:15 ET] We have global scale, but you have to deliver that in local solutions we're really excited about where we are with active ETF.
[16:13:23 ET] We have over $30 billion in active ETS, we have a suite of over 30 products and that's just in the past six years so.
[16:13:31 ET] We think that's an engine of growth for us The Fm acquisition. We think that's another engine of growth for us. It's around.
[16:13:39 ET] Cash management adding to our fixed income capabilities that are already really strong and so that's a capability extension.
[16:13:47 ET] another example of a capability extension in order to solve client needsm.
[16:13:55 ET] And we're going to have your CEO rob sharprpson in a minute maybe to talk a little bit more about that, but why buy into that space?
[16:14:03 ET] Building it out internally Well, I think the recognition is they have a proven track record, they have a really great leadership team and we felt.
[16:14:11 ET] Their culture was aligned with the culture of T Ro Price and so in this instance, we felt like the some of the parts was great.
[16:14:19 ET] that we could offer to a client they're doing things that we're excited about that we haven't necessarily done, and that gives us an early entree.
[16:14:27 ET] To liquidity and cash management and extending fixed income so was this about kind of investment capabilities, was it about distribution primarily?
[16:14:35 ET] Aro investment capabilities, yes, they have a distribution team as well, and somebody we're excited to partner with, but primarily around investment capabilities.
[16:14:43 ET] I mean, give me a sense though, I mean we talk about the history of this company and we talk about how much the investment world has changed a lot of people.
[16:14:51 ET] for the sizzle and I don't you know no offense, but I don't think people think of T row price as the sizzle, so to speak, but has sort of.
[16:14:59 ET] That culture of ti Ro become more relevant given some of the shifts that we've seen not only in the market but.
